Radiation Measuring Technology in Medicine
Minimizing the radiation risk
VacuTec has specialized in the development and production of up-to-date measuring equipment for determining radiation doses in the medical sector. Today, diagnostic radiology is a main factor of the populations exposure to radiation. Therefore, major importance must be attached in modern radiation protection to minimize radiation doses while ensuring an optimum image quality at the same time.
X-ray Diagnostic Process
VacuTec gives particular attention to the development and manufacture of ionization chambers for the application as detectors in diagnostic X-ray apparatus. Ionization chambers for automatic X-ray exposure units (AEC Sensor) are used as sensor elements of the automatic exposure control function. They are situated in the optical path directly in front of the film cartridge or an image receiver. A charge equivalent to the dose is generated in the measuring chamber and a corresponding cut-off signal is created, thus ensuring a reproducible optimum film density or dose independent of the beam quality, object density and other factors. The ionization chamber of the VacuDAP dose area product measuring system attached to the collimator can detect the entire radiation load that the patient is exposed to during the X-ray diagnostic process.
Nuclear Medicine
Among the further features offered by VacuTec are several Ionization Chambers for Isotope Calibrators for determining the activity of radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine.
